The Client:
Texas Endoscopy is an outpatient surgery center in North Texas that focuses on endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures performed by meritorious, board-certified gastroenterologists. Featuring two separate offices in the city of Waco, this exceptional ambulatory surgery center offers their services to patients in the northern part of the state including the cities of Frisco, Prosper, Addison, North Dallas, Denton, Sherman, Denison, Paris, Lewisville and Carrollton. Between their two locations, Texas Endoscopy employs 13 board certified gastroenterologists who are all dedicated to giving patients a more customized experience for their gastrointestinal procedures at a cost-effective price.

The Clientâs Issue:
It is always imperative that an endoscope be properly cleaned and sanitized as soon as possible after use. Proper cleansing of endoscopes was never an issue at Texas Endoscopy, but it was taking much longer to clean and dry their equipment in-between procedures than their staff would prefer – all while doing their best to maintain the industryâs standard cleaning practices.
âIt is important to us that we follow best practices and recommended practices for endoscopes,â said the Clinical Director at Texas Endoscopy, ânot only per the IFUâs but also per ASGE, AORN, SGNA and other leading industry expertsâ guidelines.â
Properly drying endoscopes is of the utmost importance as residual moisture left in the inner channels of this type of equipment can lead to harmful bacteria growing within, causing infections unless the bacteria is quickly eliminated before the endoscope is used again. Channel drying endoscope cabinets help to prevent any bacteria from ever forming by continuously blowing pressurized, HEPA filtered air through all the channels within each stored endoscope while they hang in the cabinet.
While scope drying & storage cabinets were certainly nothing new at either of Texas Endoscopyâs two locations, the cabinets the staff had been using did not provide acceptable channel drying which led to an increase in the time staff technicians had to spend manually drying each endoscope. The staff ultimately decided that seeking out new and improved scope cabinets would be the most efficient solution to this issue, but where could they turn for a dependable provider to fulfill their scope drying cabinet needs? Enter Harloff.

Helping To Find A Solution:
At Harloff we are proud to carry a wide variety of scope cabinets to meet any endoscopy facilityâs storage and drying needs with over 20 distinct models of cabinets for customers to choose from. Included in this selection is our flagship line of SureDry cabinets which utilize an external HEPA filtered positive pressure drying system that eliminates 99% of particulates, while our top-of-the-line SureDry models also feature our Dri-Scope AidÂź package: the industry leading internal lumen drying system. The combination of a SureDry cabinet and Dri-Scope AidÂź provides facilities with the assurance that they will be able to meet all current and anticipated future guidelines for the external and internal drying of endoscopes. It was this combination that Texas Endoscopy knew they had to have as the answer to all their endoscope channel drying concerns.

We were more than happy to send one of our best reps down to Texas to help install a total of four scope drying cabinets between Texas endoscopyâs west and north locations. Both facilities ultimately made the decision to go with our SCSS8036DRDP-DSS3316 Sure-Dry cabinet with Dri-Scope AidÂź which is constructed from a durable stainless-steel material and can store up to 15 endoscopes at a time.
âThe installation went well,â the centerâs Clinical Director recalled when asked for her thoughts regarding the installation process, âonce the crate was moved into the facility, the set up with Harloffâs representative went smoothly as planned.â
The Results
New state-of-the-art channel drying endoscope cabinets are now in place at both facilities ensuring that all endoscopes are properly dried in a timelier fashion and stored securely. The Clinical Director was happy to point out that Harloffâs scope cabinet installation has provided Texas Endoscopy with the exact benefits they were looking for and that the cabinets have absolutely lived up to their expectations up to this point. She also noted that she would recommend Harloffâs scope cabinets to other gastroenterologists looking for similar resolutions to any difficulties they may find with properly drying endoscopes at their own facilities.
